Janmashtami Pooja Process



Janmashtami is considered as a pure day by hindus. Various activities are done to make Lord Krishna happy. Firstly bhajans are being sung ahole the day in all the temples and all homes by devotees. Temples are decoraed with flowers and lightning. Kids play role of different character like Krishna, Sudama, Radhe, Kans etc to review the past. Large number of of devotees visit at temple to feel good by watching kids in their respective characters. Pooja process begins in early morning for giving bath to Lord Krishna's idol with lot of things like curd, honey, ghee, gangajal etc. Finally new clothes are Put on to idol. And then Bhog is offered to idol of lord Krishna with pedha, milk, kheer etc. At last special pooja is done by blownig conch and aarti is done. After all this devotess break thier fast.





Janmashtami Pooja Items



The festival of janmashtami brings lot of happiness all over India. However god does not need anything except purity of heart but still there are few pet pooja items for Lord Krishna’s pooja. They are as follows:

  • Lord Krishna's idol with cradle and conch
  • New clothes, flute and ornaments for Lord Krishna
  • Pooja thali containing a bell, diya, rice, elaichi(cardamom), supari, paan leaves, roli, small container filled with water, sindoor, incense sticks, flowers and ghee. 
  • For Panchamrit -milk, curd, gangajal, honey and ghee.
  • A book containing shri Krishna's arti.

Remedy (Upay / उपाय)
Janmashtami is good for getting close with your old friends or get better the broken relations. If you want to eradicate coldness between friends or do away with detachments between relations, you can follow the remedy mentioned below:

Take a white paper and write the (other) person's name on it using 
red pen/ink. Fold the paper and put it inside the flute. After that, seal both the sides of flute with sugar or "khand" (a sweet tasting substance) and bury this flute in some quiet place.
Bhajans
Janmashtami is incomlete without bhajans. Few bhajans are dedicated to Lord Krishna are as follows:
